Hi I need some help (you probably guessed that me being on here and all)
Anyway always try to sort my own issues but I have been outwitted by my network.
I am using a BT Home Hub (DSL Router also with wireless) that was wired (ethernet) to both my PC & Networked (Lanier 2138) printer. I installed BT Vision (IPTV package which is essentially the same as Microsoft MediaRoom) and being IPTV it required one of my ethernet ports.
This meant that my Printer lost out to my new IPTV system. Naturally I could conitunally swap the connection but figured it would make more sense to purchase a 5 Port Ethernet Switch (Netgear 10/100 Mbps FS605). I disconnected my PC from the router and with a patch lead connected the new Switch to my router using 'LAN PORT 1' on the switch (I know that shouldn't make a difference but you should know that I have tried all ports to no avail). I then connected the PC to Port 2 on the Switch and finally the printer to Port 3 on the Switch.
Booted everything up and PC connects to the internet and home network fine (have a laptop also on the network via wireless which has always been fine) but no luck on the printer. I CAN'T PRINT!
Evertime I try & print from either the laptop or the desktop it just timesout and generates an error message "Cannot Connect To The Device".
Now where it gets odd is that I can ping the printer fine using CMD command ping 192.168.1.66 (has always been the IP address) yet cannot print. I have tried creating new ports in the properties of the printer (control panels) but no luck what-so-ever.
I am running Windows XP SP2 and am at a loss, any help anyone can provide will help me greatly.
