XP Home. Just noticed that my deleted box has only 93 messages in it whereas it had far more. Every time I access and exit 'deleted' it erases a message. I now have nothing in it later than 31/07/05. Checked all settings and can find nothing amiss. Have I missed something. Thanks.

I see that it is only displaying 'unread' messages.

try tools>options>maintenance and make sure you haven't checked ' emptymessages from deleted folder on exit

tools>options>maintenance and see if the "delete new messages BOX after being read" is set to 30 days, that would explain the 'nothing later than 31/7 date.

if thats not the case, have you any other software monitoring your e-mails (incredimail or something similar), that could be cleaning up and recovering lost disk space. one last thing, have you plenty of room on your hard drive, some software will only store data up to a % of your available hard drive space (system restore is one such prog).

good luck

eedcam--- That box is un checked.
paperman27----I have a 'delete NEWS' box that is checked for 5 days. No other changes to my system other than MS anti spyware running? HD still has 11 gbs out of 80 left. I only noticed this yesterday, when I had all the deleted still there, and I deleted a few from the 'deleted'. In fact if I right click on the 'deleted' folder and go to properties it says this folder contains 1312 deleted and 80 unread. If I go to the source 'Docs and settings/ user name/local settings/application data' I cant find anything related to OE.

Look in

C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Identities\{GUID}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

  muddypaws 20:00 01 Sep 05

VoG-- All I have under 'Identities' is a folder named '1901884B-9828A-4B11-8595-...' which is empty. There must be an option, that I can't find, for only displaying un-read messages.

Search for the file 'Deleted Items.dbx'

I am now back to the 15th July on un-read. I deleted the emails from PCA re ' new post'. They have now gone from my deleted box.!!

  muddypaws 20:08 01 Sep 05

The only thing I have done for the first time to-day is to run 'memtest' scan.

VoG.-- Just doing that.
