Outlook reminders

In my Outlook calendar, I deleted a calendar event whilst the reminder for that event was open.

Now, every so often a reminder for that same event pops up, even though the event has been deleted.

If I dismiss the reminder a dialogue box says, “Cannot find the event, you may be reminded again”.

How do I stop this reminder popping up for an event that I’ve already deleted?

Put the event back and delete reminder first?

It isn't by any chance lurking in Tasks?

I tried that without success! I also tried System Restore without success.

I'm thinking of using my week-old back-up and restoring only my Outlook items. Will that work do you think?

Could try running Outlook with the /cleanreminders switch

Click on Start, Run and type in Outlook /cleanreminders. It is supposed to clean out reminders.

Great. That seems to have solved it!

I assume that it has only cleaned out reminders for past and/or deleted events and that any reminders for future events are still intact?

They should be but it might be worth checking.
