Outlook Express trouble

When using Outlook Express, when already on line, I press 'send/receive' to send messages and check for new ones, and although messages are sent and received, a note saying 'Disconnected' then appears on the Outlook screen, and on checking the main part of the ISP screen (whsmithnet) I then have to connect to the Internet again. This has been happening only for about a fortnight. Any ideas please how to correct it - the internet connection should not be lost just because Outlook Express its finished sending/receiving.

In outlook click on tools/options and then on the connection tab un-check the 'hang up after sending and recieving' option, click apply, that should cure the problem.

when you click on send/receive on the box that appears giving you the imformation of your email download, have you got the little box ticked to hang up when finished if so untick it
