how can i get outlook express to run in background. whenever i close it it actually closes and no icon appears in my taskbar where the rest of my programs are still running(on the right handside of my screen next to the time).
thanks in advance

If you "Close" OE, naturally it will be closed down. Use the small - at the top right of the page to minimise it on the Task bar.

That is exactly the same as I suggested...:-)

Furthermore, if you set OE to check for new messages every X or XX minutes as you prefer, it will do so and advise if you have new ones whilst minimised. The same goes for Thunderbird.

Sorry, got your wish slightly mixed up...:-(

I didn't appreciate that you meant the Notification Tray (if you use XP).
