Outlook Express Problem

When accessing Outlook Express the programme continually asks for confirmation of the password this is already 'DOTTEDIN' We haven't changed it all and when we click OK the dialogue box requesting confiemation just comes back again.

The error is shown as

'protocol pop 3 error number Ox800CCC92

Any ideas?

if it is with BT, then they are trying to sort it out, they have known about it for a couple of weeks, if you are not with BT..then i give up

It seems to me that your password as stored on your computer may have become corrupted. Try the following. Go into OE without logging on and select <Tools><Accounts> and then select the <Mail> tab. Now select your account and then click the <Edit> button and keep clicking next until you reach the Internet Mail Logon screen. Now delete the password and re-enter it. Click <Next> and <Finish>. Now try to log on and see what happens.

Ox800CCC92 is definately the error code for the wrong password for the account, so if it's not your PC you may have to contact your ISP to reset your password so you can get back in

Why not try resetting your password again via either Control Panel (Internet Options) or, on the ISP dialup connection box, by clicking on Settings in the centre.

Go to the Connection tab, highlight your ISP concerned (if you have more than one) and then, again, click on Settings.

You can now delete the password under your user name and retype it.

Click OK on the way out and try redialling.
