Outlook express not opening some messages?

  MuDelta 12:09 08 Jun 09

Sometimes when a new email icon appears in my system tray and I open OE there is no message even though the box at the bottom right of OE tells me that I have one or more new messages. I have asked some friends to send me test messages which have appeared as expected. What is up and how can I correct it?

What program are you using to notify new mail?

Sea Urchin
Windows XP. I got a notification of your email in my system tray but nothing in OE!

Outlook Express does not notify you of new mail unless the program is open - and you said you receive notification in the system tray and then open OE. Is that correct? If so I would have thought you must have a third party program doing the notifying.

Do you perhaps have mail routed in to other folders apart from the Inbox?

Sea Urchin

Sorry, OE was indeed open - my mistake.

I have installed Thunderbird and am now getting my usual level of emails. It must be something to do with OE.

Although I have circumvented the problem by using Thunderbird, I would still like to solve it. Has anyone any further advice - apart from "stop fussing!"?

By resetting IE as advised here click here things have come right.

Thanks for yore interest Sea Urchin.
