outlook express files?

i have a new pc after mine went belly up. i am installing windows xp on it & i have the old harddrive set as an external drive.
what i want to do is transfer my emails (sent items, deleted items, inbox etc) from the external HD to the new pc but i can't seem to find them.
i have tried using the transfer files from your old pc but i can't get that to work. i am assuming that it is because i don't have the HD in another pc.

can anyone help?

Look for a folder containing .dbx files, it will be in a folder similar to:

C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{A466DCA5-A861-4A6E-9DF3-E1B91170D0A8}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Copy that folder across to your new PC (you can leave it on the old hard drive if you wish) and go to OE > Tools > Options > Maintenance tab > Store Folder button and change the present store folder to the folder you have just transfered across.

PS. Backup your present store folder first, incase you want to revert to it later.
