After receiving e-mails, how can i view file extensions in my inbox to look for suspicious files regarding viruses etc, before i open them. I am using windows 98 SE and outlook express 6.

There is no reliable method of doing what you ask to spot all viruses. Almost any attachment to an email, as well as embedded scripts, could potentially contain a virus.

The only reliable method is to install a good quality anti-virus program. I recommend Norton.
