I have used Outlook Express as my default E-Mail Access for 3 to 4 years now, with very little problem. But since doing an fdisk, format and re-install of XP home, I have been getting this error message.
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.blueyonder.co.uk', Server: 'pop3.blueyonder.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Has anyone seen this before, and any thoughts as to how I stop it.
Thanx. Joe

P.s. I have checked all pop3 and smtp settings, and they are all OK.

Are you using a Norton Product - Anti Virus or Firewall?

  Joe McG 21:27 15 Apr 03

"norton"

Slippy fingers!

Well click here but it applies to NIS and NPF.

I misread it sorry.

You could disable email protection and see if it helps then you'll know if norton is causing the trouble.

Powerless, cheers mate there's a conflict with the e-mail scanning with OE.

I've just upgraded to the pro version, and never had any problems with the ordinary version.
Looks like i've been had for many ££££s.
