Help I have just installed the free version of AVG Virus & now Outlook express cannot download my emails.i get an error message '-ERR AVG PoP 3 proxy server Cannot connect to mail server.How can I get out of this mess.Thanks

I had endless problems with AVG and Outlook Express. In the end I uninstalled and installed AVAST Anti virus. Am more than happy with this software which updates itself automatically.

Have you checked the priorities in AVG for email, I have no problem with it.

Check the email scanner is functional in the control centre

You can turn off Avg Mail scan,E-mail box ,Properties.I think it is , Disable plug in.

You don't need to switch off the e-mail scanner.

You do need to uninstall/reinstall AVG and use the "advanced" options when installing rather than the express install.

If you do that AVG will tell you during install that your e-mail client is not supported and offer to add a "personal mail" plugin.Say yes to that and when the install finishes you should find AVG works properly with Outlook Express.

Thunderbird users (that's me) need to do the same thing.
