Outlook Express 6 Not Connecting

  Rickyv 09:15 14 Feb 04

OE6 opens fine and I can read existing messages. However, although the Internet Explorer 6 work perfectly, Outlook express just will not coneect and times out. In OE6 under tools / options/ connections it states that Outlook Express shares the internet connection in Internet Explorer.

Can anyone help, please?

Are you sure that you have the correct pop3 details entered?

When did the problem arise? If just in the last couple of hours, it could be a problem with your ISP not with your PC.

What mail provider are you using?

In OE's Tools>Accounts>Mail tab, do you have your ISP listed as your default connection?

When checking highlight your default ISP (I presume you are using more than one by the way) ensure in its Properties that your General, Servers and Connection tabs' details are in order.

Have you also checked that Hang up when finished is not enabled in OE's Send/Receive panel?
