Outlook downloads same emails from POP3 server

I use Outlook to download my email from my ISP's POP3 mail server. I run Outlook on 2 different machines - home PC and laptop. I copy over the current version of my Outlook folders (inc. the Inbox) from the PC to the laptop on a regular basis. However, when I go online with the laptop and open up Outlook it downloads all of the emails still on the mail server which I have already downloaded to the PC.

How can I prevent this from happening? I only want the laptop to download new emails.

I think that you probably have a tick on "leave a copy of messages on server".

Open Outlook, click on Tools, Accounts. Select Mail, then left click on the name of the account, (if you have more than one). Click on properties on the right hand side. Click on advanced tab, and at the bottom you will see a box "leave a copy of message on the server". If it is ticked, then un-tick it. Click Apply, and OK.

That should correct your problem.
