Outlook - Damn thing playing up?

Hi all, I've been using Outlook (part of Office 2000 suite) quite successfully for a year now, but since Wednesday it won't send mail as soon as I've composed it. It stays in the 'outbox' until not only the next time I go online (I'm dialup), but I need to turn off the PC then start up again! It's sending me nuts... I've looked in tools to see whether anything needs changing but cannot see anything relevant. In addition to this problem, when I do startup then open Outlook and click 'send/recieve', I get a small window message '..A dial-up Networking connection is already established to blueyonder..' then two options, 'hang up and dial blueyonder..' or '..try to locate the server on the current connection..' - this second choice is the one I need otherwise the first choice just disconnects me and I need to dial up again. Any advice on these would be GREATLY appreciated.

Double click on Dial-Up Networking. If a wizard comes up, click on Cancel.
Double click on the default dialler, is the phone number to dial the right one and how many diallers are there?
