Outlook Connection

I have the Microsoft Outlook icon on my desktop and if I click on it, Outlook opens without establishing a connection. Is there any way that by clicking on it, that it autodials the ISP and connects?

don't get confused between microsoft outlook and outlook express.

If you are on Outlook & not Otlook Express, go to Outlook Today/Tools/Options/Mail Delivery, put a tick in the box Automatically Dial when sending & receiving. Also tick Hang up when finished if you want it to close the connection when all the messages have been sent/received

An after thought, I may not have read your question correctly. I don't know any way that you can check mail from the desk icon, you have to open Outlook & then press send/receive. I stand to be corrected.
