Do other Office 2000 programs work OK?

Other Office programmes run OK. Have removed Outlook and re-installed, no change, have deleted outlook.pst file, but no change. Outlook still 'hangs' at the flash screen. Ctl-Alt-Del and 'end task' is the only way to get out of it. Any other tips please. Thanks, Mikera

If you haven't already done so, search for and rename the following files to .old

1. outllib.dll
2. extend.dat
3. views.dat
4. outcmd.dat

Uninstall and reinstall the Outlook component of Office.

remove office2000 via control panel/add remove programs then insert the office cd, cancell the install setup, double click my computer
then right click the cd drive that contains office2000

browse to (E:)\PFILES\MSOFFICE\OFFICE and double click the file OFFCLN9

(where E: is the letter of the cd drive containing the office2000 cd)

this should remove any stubborn bits of office 2000, when its done, go back to my computer and double click the office2000 cd drive, this will start setup.

good luck, hope it works

Do you have Norton Antivirus? I frequently have had problems with NAV2002 and Outlook, where the splash screen appears, then a white error box informs me of a problem. Normally a reboot and second attempt got around it but I have given up on Norton for now.

I had a similar problem recently. Reinstalling Office did not solve it.

My Outlook file was very large, so I did some clearing out of old messages, to reduce the size somewhat.

This resolved my problem.

Thanks to all that sent replies. Finally sorted by removing several emails via web access and renaming .pst file. Outlook now working OK. Thanks again, great to know people willing to help.
