Outgoing Fax

Having set up Fax facilities in Windows XP, the incoming side works OK, but the Outgoing side appears to work OK until having dialled the line required it always returns the nessage "the line is busy" even though I have established that the line is free. Monitiring the 'phone there appears to be an extra beep of tone on top of the ringing tone, and I can only assume that it is interpreting this as busy tone. Can any one help please?

Check you rmodem dialling properties and make sure the location is set correctly - Are you trying to dial the international code first for example?

Also, check that tone dialling is enabled.

Thanks Smiffy99, I am confident all that is in place. It dials out OK and ring tone is returned from the required line, but it seems to have an extra bleep of something akin to busy tone superimposed, which semms to be interpreted as busy tone. This is presumably being generated from within my computer somehow!!
