Other devices, RAID error

  Champman 08:15 11 Aug 09

Windows XP Pro, SP3. On start up it says, 'No disks attached' - I have two hard disks, Windows then works (nearly) normally but Drive Image7 whole-disk backup crashes. Under Device Manager, Other Devices has a ? - RAID controller. Tried Driver Update, Windows could not find. Reading up RAID, why is it needed at all?, my other computer has two hard disks and RAID and works normally as two independent disks. Can give more info if needed. Antivirus, malware (Norman Data Defence and Windows) show nothing. Help much appreciated.
