Orange light on on old Canon BJC 250 printer

I have given my next door neighbour (Win 98) my old Canon BJC 250 printer as a stop gap.

The driver appears to have been installed OK and it is showing as the default printer. When I turn the printer on, however, it goes through its routine but instead of settling down quickly and showing the green light it takes an age and then the orange fault light turns on. The printer was working OK on my lad's PC yesterday.

When you try to print it tells you that there is a problem and then retrys after 5 secs.

Any ideas anyone please. I remember having this when first loaded it on my lad's PC but can't recall the resolution.

never thought of that. I carried it around with some paper in it and it might be looking for a sheet when it keeps whirring around.

I'll post back when I get chance to look at the machine again thanks.

the floppy disc driver had been placed behind the paper in the tray!
