I have recently changed my rollerball mouse for an optical one,and I notice that it is still alive ,(the red light underneath is still on)when I close down .Is this normal .Where is it drawing its power from.

If it's a USB mouse and possibly connected to a hub then shutting down without switching off at the mains socket still leave power through to the hub and some USB ports. Or so I've found on my system.

The board as still got power and if it's a USB optic that’s why. Mine was the same, I now Use a PS/2 Optic mouse a £2.50 Harry Potter one and it's miles better

Some of the Logitech stay active and just go into a standby state.

Yes ---shutting down is not the same thing as switching off at the mains.
It's more of a standby situation.

Thanks for that. I was a bit worried that it might be drawing power from the onboard battery.
