optical mice light

Hi, i own an optical mouse, and i was told that the light on it can damage your eyes. is this true as the button to press for ID is at the bottom and i cant really help not looking at it.

Never heard that one - unlikely to do any damage just "looking" at the light - different thing altogether if you were to shine it into you eyes directly!

The light from the base of the mouse will not shine directly into your eyes so is unlikely to harm you, however, there are a number of rodents incorporating a pointing device (for presentations) which include a Class 2 laser. If the beam is aimed directly into the eye then damage can occur - these units always come with a clear health warning

Just as any bright light can damage your eyes, as above, don't look directly at it. You may notice, when you pick it up, the LED will dim.

Its not wise to look into them....

On mine it has a laser warning.

thanks all. I will bear all in mind.

The light is just an infra red LED. It will do you no harm but just as [email protected]@m says, you shouldn't look at any bright light.

It's not just a red led it is a laser

PS pic the mouse just of the desk and see the light drop. For safety
