Operating windows restore from another drive

I run Windows XP Pro and have had the dreaded blue screen. When rebooting all I get is a disc check with memory dump, which keeps repeating itself. I also have another harddrive on the same computer running XP. Using the this drive I can access the failed drive and look at the files and infact have backed up some of them. Can I do a system restore to the failed XP using the good XP on the spare drive. I have done a virus check of both drives from the spare. If you can understand this, can anyone help?
