Operating system failure to recognise WindowsXP CD

Following a scandisc repair, the computer asked for WindowsXP Home Edition CD to be inserted to load up certain dll files. However when inserted the computer will not recognise the CD and asks for the correct one to be inserted. Is there a problem in the registry?

When you installed XP the CD drive was X.

You have changed the CD drive since the to Y.

Change it back to the original CD drive letter X.

X - Y, examples.
