Opera Speed Dial not required

  Digital 21 Aug 12

How do I disable Speed Dial in Opera 12.01?

  LastChip 21 Aug 12

In the Opera url (address) bar type:

and hit enter.

You're now in the Preferences Editor.

Scroll down until you find:

User Prefs

and open it up.

Scroll down until you find:

Speed Dial State

and set the number to 0 (zero).

Now scroll down until you reach the bottom of that section and click Save.

You'll probably need to restart Opera for the change to take effect.

Thanks a lot LastChip, that did the trick! I've only just started using Opera seriously; for decades I've used Firefox but lately it's been hanging so much I decided to try Opera - so far so good!

I agree. Firefox sadly is not what it once was, but I really like Opera. It's a shame more people don't try it.

I've been using Opera for several years now. I try Chrome and Firefox, from time to time, but always go back to Opera.

The only thing really wrong with Opera is that Opera Software don't do enough to promote it.

One thing to guard with Opera is that on installation it can change file associations eg jpgs try to open in Opera. I found no advantage over Chrome.
