An Opera 9 question re tabbed browsing

Having been an IE user for years, I'm trying alternatives, namely Firefox and Opera. I like the look of Opera but have a question for any experts out there:

When I open a new tab from a link, I'd like Opera to go straight to that tab instead of staying with the existing one - how do I do that?

Thanks in advance.

Have checked in Opera help? I'm sorry if you have already done that. I was going to post the link, but I realised mine is the Linux version, probably no good to you.

If you right click on the link and open in new tab it will go directly to that page.
Well it does for me,only installed Opera 9 tonight.
Hope this helps

Does for me, too. There doesn't appear to be any option either way.

Thanks for the replies. I never thought to right click and open the new tab that way. I looked in the Opera help but couldn't find any answers there. Tomorrow I'll mark this as resolved if nobody else has any ideas.
