cabinet files

I am trying to install a windows wireless driver on a Linux system using ndiswrapper, but its asking for the location of a .inf file, and when I direct it to the installation CD it says not found. I suspect this is because the .inf file is in a file but cannot open it to find out. I seem to remember a .cab opener on a magazine freebie CD but cannot find it. The official Linux driver is far to difficult to install as it involves a page of line by line instructions which do not seem to work.
