Opening win explorer compacted

  greybeard 22:36 05 Jan 06

I've managed to get windows explorer to open with the c drive instead of my docs, but can someone tell me how to modify the "target"line to make it open with all the folders closed(compacted ?).
Currently it ends ... .exe /e,c:
Many thanks.

In Start In just delete the contents.

Just tried that VOG, but it didn't have any effect.
Re-tried, but still no change. I'm running XP2 by the way, if that makes any difference.

It opens as suggested for about half a second, then expands the Cdrive folder in the left pane.

I may be on the wrong track entirely, but,
are you opening 'windows explorer' via Start > programs > accessories > windows explorer ?
If so then it is supposed to open (explore) the contents of your 'my documents' files and folders.

If you want to explore the contents of your whole computer then you should go to 'My Computer' > right click and choose 'explore'

apologies if I have misunderstood what you are trying to achieve.

Hi lotvic. I open explorer from a short cut on the taskbar, and want it to open with all the folders closed.
If you right click the shortcut, and modify the "target" entry, it's possible to select which folder is open when the window opens.
But I don't know what the entry should be if you just want 'my computer' to head the display with all the folder tree below closed.

I've set the 'target' entry to my cd drive, then it opens as wanted with all the folders closed.
