Opening Pdf files on CD using Internet Explorer

  KenHow 16:06 17 Oct 04

I prepare data CD's which run under Internet Explorer. The data files on the CD's are in Pdf format. I've recently come across a problem on my laptop which uses Windows XP and IE explorer provided by Freeserve (Wanadoo). The Pdf files which used to open OK will no longer open, the pages just show an icon with a red "X" in the top left hand corner. The CD's work perfectly OK on my Desktop using Win 98SE and the same version of IE.

I've heard of others having this problem and understand it may have something to do with Active-X controls but can't see any reference to this in the help files.

I have tried looking/searching the Adobe and Microsoft Knowledge bases without successs.

Can anyone help.
