I currently use open office for word processing ,spreadsheets etc. I have a MS office document on my computer, how can I transfer it so that I can edit it?

Click on the file name and "Open with" and use Open Office to open it. Alternatively I open mine by just opening OpenOffice and clicking on the file I want to open. If it has a .doc extension it will open in Open Office.

Should have said, once you have opened the file, save it as an Open Office file.

If it is a Office 2007 document you may need to download the Office compatabliity patch.
