The message is just to scare you...Something like zonealarm and a good AV is all you really need. Just install, update, configure and just leave them running.

If you've got a firewall and AV prog installed and running then ignore the messages as they are probably only trying to sell you something. An 'attack' could be nothing more than your ISP doing checks on the connection. When you first set up a firewall you might get loads of what appear to be people trying to access your PC for no other reason than that they can, most of them wouldn't know what to do if they got in.
