Only half RAM listed

The PC was originally fitted with 64mb RAM. Someone fitted another 128mb but the machine really needed 2 ram modules the same. I fitted another 128 in place of the 64. Now checking the ram in Control Panel/System it only shows 128. Taking one 128 out the reading is then 64mb. Changing the ram into the other slot still only reads 64mb. Has anyone any idea what is happening? Thanks in advance. Dave

If you have on-board graphics, that could be taking up some of the RAM

Sounds like your board only reads one side of the RAM modules.

128 in two sets of chips, 64 on each side of module.

I don't think you can do anything about it other than swap the modules for the single-sided type.
