I currently use a Belkin surge panel and have registered it for the insurance the manufacturer gives to a certain amount if god forbid, the surge protection does not work. I have sent an email to oneclick asking if they provide similar insurance cover in case the panel fails.
I think this is an excellent idea and if I get the right answer from them then I will use my 'well-earned' to purchase one. saves crawling under the desk to switch off at the mains everytime I switch off the computer.

I would have thought that to have a decent switched socket outlet installed above bench height would be a less expensive option.

I have an 8 way surge protected socket from MAPLIN, and I have had no problems. These can be wall mounted and are excellent value.
