one key not typing

  tomtojo 18:00 09 May 07

Hi everyone,
Have got a laptop with the letter H not responding, I am thinking of hitting it with a hammer to see if that gets it to type, (joke).
I know I can use the on screen keyboard, but its a bit of a pain.
I have tried surfing for a answer without any joy.
any ideas
Thanks a lot

PS gone for tea, back later!

It could be something stuck under the key - toastcrumbs, perhaps? You can (verrrry carefully) prise the key off and check. Warning: it can be tricky fitting keys back on.

May just be worn out

Thanks Babou + woodchip,
Well I bit the bullet as they say,and sorted it.
Here is what I done, if anyone is having the same problem, I gently prised the key off with
a small flat bladed screwdriver, underneath
is a small rubber presure pad located
in the centre, I repositioned this,
but it still did not work, I then noticed
two plastic brackets that swing upwards
I gently lifted these, then repositioned
the rubber pad again, this sorted the
problem, I then gently pushed the key
back on.
I don't know why lifting the brackets
fixed the problem, when you can fit the rubber
pad without lifting them, I did this with two keys, same result.
Hope this is useful to someone.
