My new PC shows I have Drives C: 200Gb and D: 800Gb

Is this really two drives or one 1Tb partitioned?

Not opening case as don't want to break security sticker.

Most likely one drive partitioned into 2 - unless they've started manufacturing 800Gb drives!

Look in Device Manager - you'll be able to tell one way or the other. G

Or, even Disk Management. G

As above one drive, but you could fit a extra to save stuff on just in case the other does a bunk

Thanks for info, I hadn't thought about the peculiar sizes, must be partition, but wonder why they did it at all.

I am getting fazed, give it a rest till morning, been installing dozens of progs as still haven't extracted old files yet, see other thread re Acronis

1] press start globe bottom r of screen
2] all programs
3] admin tools
4] select disk management from margin, [under storage if not visible]
5] if the chart shows disk 0 only its one hdd and you will see that it is divided into the partitions
or
if you see disk 0 and underneath disk 1 you have two hdd's

hope this helps
