ominous clicking sound on brand new hard drive

Currently formating a brand new 500gb freecom external hard drive, it is making a annoying clicking sound.

Assume this isn't the de rigeur.

Worth sending it back straight away?

Its stopped clicking now and is silent like my other freecom.

Its a Samsung drive.

it may well have been clicking while formating, because of the regular write pattern requires as it has to write all the segments, in which to put data.

But it shouldn't do it in general use.

I thought that...must admit not had it with any other drive...its either a little humming or silent like the 400gb freecom I have.

Got to load it up and see what happens...was a little miffed as it was a new drive. If its like it normally it goes back!
