Old PC as a router etc?

  mik61ish 26 Jun 13

I have an old Pentium PC that I would like to use as a router firewall to enable VPN and wireless to 2 other PC's Is there any where to find out how to and a suitable forum to show you how to connect it all up ie phone line in to the PC then lan out etc and how to enable wireless?

Most reasonably modern routers have an effective firewall already built in.

You can't use a PC as a router, you use a router!

I think the OP meant to use the computer as an isolating distribution machine with a firewall on it to prevent access to nasties to his working machines. I don't think he meant using it as an actual router.

Oh yes you can and a pretty sophisticated one at that.

You can find examples here.

Quite. I'd still prefer to use an ordinary router though!
