Ok I have an IDE to USB connector that fits both 3.5 and 2.5 inch hard drives..... connections is not what I need. BUT a programme that will help me transfer the old drive to the new using one of the other pcs. Its not just a case of drag and drop I'm told

Norton Ghost.

find the makers of your old or new HDD and go to their web site and download the program

alternatively try Acronis True Image, a free personal version is provided in the new issue of Personal Computer World.

On the current issue of PCW there is a free copy of Acronis Migrate Easy. This is exactly what this program is for.

Most hard drive manufadcturers have utilities available for download that will do this for you.

I've just used Maxblast 4 to do this with a new Maxtor drive.

Found no problems except for system restore which needed a repair before it would function properly due to the change in partition size
