You sound like an experienced sort of person - why the daft title?

  Graham ® 21:36 20 May 05

Oh, go on then - 2 beeps = memory problem.

  niknax 21:39 20 May 05

i agree graham daft it was....checked the memory first (sorry two beeps ment to say post beeps)

I agree with first reply by Graham. Why waste our time with idiot posts?

  woodchip 21:43 20 May 05

Yep Memory if more that one stick try each in turn. in the first slot this will be 0 or 1

Hi, I think 2 beeps indicates possible ram/parity problem, possibly wrong ram for mobo.

If I am wrong, my apologies, but someone else will no doubt say so.

  niknax 21:59 20 May 05

but this is not an idiot post...

there is only one stick of ram which was previously fitted before..changed from 0 to 1 and everything still workes fine. the pc just gets stuck on the xp screen and goes no further after re-starting

  woodchip 22:05 20 May 05

Will it go into safe mode

  DieSse 22:06 20 May 05

Have you still got the drive with the old operating system. Does it boot up with that?

  niknax 22:12 20 May 05
