Office1.cab, corrupt

I ran Microsoft Office 2000 on my laptop OS M.E.
I bought a new laptop and formatted the hard drive on my old one before selling it to a friend. I now want to put office 2000 on my new PC OS XP HOME, but when the progress bar gets about one third way I get the message " OFFICE1.CAB corrupt or missing" and thats the end of the installation. Is there a way of recovering the file or is OFFICE 2000 too old for XP Home? The disc is original and the same one I used to install office to my old laptop. I have succesfully copied to my hard drive and tried from there but no luck. Laptop is Intel 2.4 512 memory with 60 gig HD, well up to the job and far better than the old one...
Any suggestions please.
Russell.
