Office Xp keeps reinstalling

  SB23 15:51 03 Apr 07

I've now got another little annoyance.

After the installation of my router, when I startup the pc, and log on, the Office XP installer appears, and reinstalls Office XP. It doesn't ask for a cd, but within about 30 secs, its installed....again.

Any ideas,

Is there anything to do with Office in msconfig, SB23?

  SB23 18:53 03 Apr 07

The only thing that I don't recognise is,

D:\Setup.exe HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVer...

I would untick that entry.

Which drive is your D: drive? Is it a CD Drive, a hard drive, or a partition? Either way it looks odd having a setup.exe in msconfig. Trace it back, see what it belongs to.

D:Drive is the dvd rom drive, my next question is why is that in the startup list. I didn't do it, honest.

Another question is, how do I trace it back to see what it belongs to?

If it's your DVDROM drive then I'm surprised you don't geta an error on startup, unless you have the Office CD in the drive. Untick that entry see what happens.

I had this for a while.

Not much help to you I know, but it eventually disappeared as mysteriously as it came!

(What's the betting it'll now come back tomorrow!)

i had this as well ages ago and their was a update from microsoft that fixed it have you got the latest office updates?

I've gone into msconfig and changed the startup list, so far ok, but I'll check for updates now.
