office 2003 cusor problem

  Botch Casually 17:00 11 Sep 04

I have just installed the student edition of office 2003.
when I start word the cursor appears right at the top of the page and I can't adjust the top margin using the vertical ruler. If I select 'headers and footers' and then cancel it the cursor returns to it's normal position a few lines down and I can use the ruler to adjust the top margins position.
How do I cure this, I've tried reinstalling.

Possibly a corrupt template, even if this a new installation.

Do a search for the file (note: doT not doC). You will have to enable searching of hidden files and folders to find it. In the seach window, right click it and select Rename. Call it normal.old or whatever.

Try starting Word.
