OE6 problem

Sudenly my OE6 does not work.
The message "Microsoft Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
When I close this I get "Dr Watson Postmaster Debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I have tried 'System Restore' in XP.
I have visited Microsoft website and downloaded "XP (KB900930)." update, which looks as though it is aimed at this problem, even though I download all notified updates.
My "Connection" settings are correct.
Ctrl/Alt/Delete shows lots of activities.
OE6 freezes.
What more can I try ?

Thanks, I tried lots of things after your suggestion and although I don't know exactly what solved the problem all is now working again.
