OE Express - Can't change default font

  Charlie Babbage 20:45 21 Jul 05

I have Outlook Express v 6.0 which always displays text in new messages as Ariel 10 pt despite the fact that when I go to Tools>Options>Compose, the font is shown as Times Roman 12 pt which is what I want.

Any ideas as to how to fix this would be appreciated. Yes, when I went into Tools>Options>Compose and selected Times Roman 12 pt, I did click the 'Apply' button!

Open Outlook Express click on 'Tools/Options/Compose'

Select 'Font Settings' & change to your desired setting click 'Apply'

Sorry didn't read your thread properly.

You have obviously already tried that.

Do you have any mail stationery selected?

As messages will be written in the default font of the stationery.

Perhaps you need your settings to be HTML under the Send tab in OE options?

... no, I don't have any mail stationery attached and yes,my settings are HTML under the Send tab in OE options.

Any other ideas which you or anyone else may have would be appreciated.

In OE6 'Tools', 'Options' then 'Read'

Go to 'Fonts' at bottom of this page.

Yes, that will change the default setting on mail that you receive.

  Fellsider 21:01 25 Jul 05

It shouldn't, because you have the option to select whatever font you want for outgoing mails when you create mail.

It specifically says 'Click here to change the fonts and default encoding used when reading massages'

  Fellsider 21:02 25 Jul 05

Are you saying that you can only use Arial for outgoing messages?

  lotvic 02:00 26 Jul 05

when you click on 'Create Mail' and 'New Message' box comes up, click on 'Format' and on the drop down menu check that there is a black dot next to 'Rich Text (HTML)' this should also be giving you a new toolbar under the Subject: line, which will display the text it is using and will allow you to change it there for the New Message.

Do you get this font toolbar appearing ?
