Hi Folks

Recently I bought my kids a lap top. I now need to put on some anti virus software and parent controls.

Can you please suggest some good anti virus software, together with details of where it can be obtained from, and how I would go about putting on parental controls?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Worth a look.

Re Anti virus, I suggest Avira, MS Security Essentials or Avast - all free but only install one.
Plus PC Tools firewall (Free)
and: Spywareblaster (tries to prevent malware)
also Superantispyware and Malawarebytes as Malware scanners - all free.

I use the free Microsoft one, MSE click here
plus an ant-imalware SuperAntispy click here the free one.
As for parental controls, you do not mention what operating system. Is it XP or VISTa or Windows 7?

For the A/V and malware detection I agree with john bunyan (I am currently using Avira, switched from AVG which just got too needy)
I would maybe add a firewall sucha as Comodo
Alot of the free offerings now bundle everything together - or you can mix and match

For parental control have a look at K9 click here

Hi Folks

Many thanks for your replies so far.

Windows 7 is my operating system.
Would all the above suggestions still apply?

Many Thanks
