nvlddmkm stopped responding

I started using a nvidia geforce 8800GT and my pc is now crashing reguarly during games. When it returns to the desktop the above error message appears from the bottom right, it also says it successfully recovered but the game never does :-(

Can anyone help me!? All vista updates and latest nvidia drivers are installed and removing a stick of ram does not cure it, nor does disabling visual themes and user account control, tried all of these through forum suggestions.

it has an Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.2Ghz with 2GB Ram, i have noooo idea about specs btw ... its a packard bell jobby from pcworld.

Thanks to anyone who knows the answer!

uninstall nvidia drivers (display only if you get the option) via add remove programs.
type 'regedit' in orb start window, right click delete nvidia corp entries in h_key> current user.
do the same in h_key local machine.
reboot, delete nvidia folder from c> programs.
reboot again.
you should now be running on vista vga driver.
download click here and run as admin to install
most stopped responding errors are due to misdirection caused by poorly un~installed drivers.
good luck let us know if this works.
