Numbers column not lining up

I am typing items in Wordpad which have a cost amount at the end of each item. When the page is completed all looks OK with the cost amounts lined up down to the total. When ready to print I click on print preview and again it looks fine and ready to print. However the print out emerges showing the columns an inch or either way out of line.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi

It would be interesting, and maybe useful, to understand how you do your formatting. For example, have you used spacebar to line up your figures or have you lined them up with other ways?

I wonder if this is what is causing your problem?

Thanks for your reply.

I did in fact use the spacebar to align the numbers column. I'm now wondering that if that was the problem, then if I was to use a spreadsheet and place the item description in column A and then move column B to the right followed by placing the numbers column in it would it would it remain aligned.

It may be worth a try.

I find the best way to do this is to use a table - format your right hand cells (with amounts in) to right align.

Thank you marvin42.

Point taken.

Try setting a custom tab. Simplest way I think.
