I have what must be considered to be an old STB with what was ntl now virgin of course, now what we want to do is go wireless, i have purchased a netgear cable router and three wireless cards for the other pc's, now the trouble is when i connect the modem (NTL 250 hub) to the riuter then the router to my laptop it says cannot detect a broadband connection, but when i revert back to just plugging the modem into the laptop all is ok, i have entered the correct details i.e username, password as required but alas the router will not route the signal is it because it is an old set top box or is it that i just will not be able to use this modem, i tried to connect via the ethernet port on the laptop box but this did not work as i was told with it being an old STB it does not have an in built modem, so any comments on this will be helpful

I am running WINDOWS VISTA HOME 32 BIT edition
thank you

And this, old now so I don't know how relevant - you should only need to `register` when Virgin send you a replacement/new STB or modem.
