NTLDR is missing.

  dilshouse 09:47 17 Dec 04

My PC has crashed and I am unable to restart it. All was well until my screen froze. I shut the PC down and turned it off. When I tried to restart it, I got a message - "Can't find boot record. Please insert system disc." When I put my XP disc in I got another message saying "Cann't find hard disc drive. Press F3 to exit setup". I did this and got a third message on an otherwise blank screen - "NTLDR is missing. Booot from cd".
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
