NTL wont supply broadband

I live in an NTL area.
They cant/wont supply broadband cos its an old vediotron area/exchange.

house is entirely NTL with 2 phonelines, 2 digital tv boxes but no interactive services.
no BT in house but was until about 8 years ago.

so any ideas how i can:
force NTL to get broadband - or
get ADSL from BT at MINIMUM cost? - or
any other ideas?
note: i want to avoid having to have a £9 a month BT phone line rental just to get ADSL from BT

Try threatening to leave NTL. Their "retainment" dept will almost certainly agree to pay your BT line rental charge £10.50 as long as you agree to keep your other services. Then sign up to euro1net.com. You have to pay a fair amount in advance but you get 1mb unlimited broadband for £10 a month. I have in it works fine.
