NTFS vs FAT32 on new HD

  bliksem 15:45 20 Feb 03

Hi All,

Is it okay/safe to have 2 partitions on one HD, one being NTFS and the other FAT32? Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes it is OK - although I can't see any advantages. My choice would be NTFS for both partitions (unless you need to dual-boot XP/W2K with W98 or WinME).

as the other responder said NTFS is the better option because it offers better HD utilisation and offers better security such as encrypting files etc but if you dual boot with WIn98/95 then when you are using these Os's you will not be able to access a drive formatted with NTFS.
